Banners of Old

I hope everyone loves the new banner. Since I have been busy Crafting and farming Alchemy materials, today's post revisits almost one year's worth of old banners. How many of these do you remember?

Period: August 19th, 2007 to November 19th, 2007

The banner that started it all. I was heavily debating what I would use for a banner, and after rummaging through my screenshots folder, this was the best picture I could find. Taken in Fraps, the words were inserted using Blogger's design elements, so it took a while to center them.

Period: November 20th, 2007 to January 19th, 2008

The original banner had red and purple lettering, but since I no longer have the original, this is the best I could come up with. The darker lighting is due to Windower, and in the end, I did not like how dark my face looked. In addition, Snippy and Liabelle are sitting on the wrong sides, so I knew I would be working on a third banner soon.

Period: January 20th, 2008 to February 5th, 2008

I would like to say this picture rolled out around the same time that I created Snippy Cam, but I would have to check a few dates to be sure. Taken at a LS event while I was still in Ischemia, I loved the molten lava and volcanic setting, so I sat down to take a picture that would surpass the second banner. Using the "Monotype" font from Paint.net, I grafted the letters on this banner personally and did not use Blogger's limited font choices.

Period: February 6th, 2008 to May 27th, 2008

Another picture inspired by a LS event, although at a much later time. After a long series of Shen fights, I decided to return to Purgonorgo Isle to pose with Lia and Snippy in a tropical setting. Although you get to see our faces again, I was unhappy about the lack of background detail, and it seemed silly to have an ocean in a den.

Period: May 28th, 2008 to June 27th, 2008

Created in Flash after many painstaking hours, this banner finally sated my desire for a self-designed art piece. Originally much larger than shown, Ariane suggested shrinking it to better fit on the screen. After much debating (and some arguing), I finally agreed, and I think it turned out much better -- thanks Ari.

For additional readings, I have opened up a new site that can be found on the right sidebar. This new site will be a test area where I might ask for reader feedback from time to time.

Snippy thinks all future banners will be updated here as well.

Period: June 28th, 2008 to Present

Instead of creating a new banner from scratch, I decided to touch up on my previous one, and many subtle changes were made: the eyes of both elves were leveled, hair detail was added, Khaki's nose and mouth were altered slightly, and I also changed the color of Lia's top. Although I am not completely satisfied with the text color, I have decided to give it a rest since I could not find a color that did not blend somewhat into the background.
