Scrapbook Collection, Page 1

I have a lot of pictures. The good ones are usually posted within a week, whereas the mediocre ones accumulate in a heap. Rather than putting the latter to waste, I have decided to string the misfits together in a new series of  "scrapbook" posts. These series will be published every now and then, whenever I gather enough pictures.

In the picture above, Moo Ouzi the Swiftblade takes on Odzmanouk (a Wyrm freelance) in a vicious brawl. Although I tried to help the Wyrm, four of Moo Ouzi's companions targeted and gunned me down, and the Wyrm died shortly afterward. It must have been a close match because Moo Ouzi was defeated by two Capricornian Casters soon after.

Here, Masani and I team up for an Empress Hairpin as BST/THFs. With "Widescan," "Flee," "Charm," and "Treasure Hunter" at our disposal, we got the drop on our second try. If only all NMs could be this easy.

Above, I finally managed to catch some legendary fish while on the Mhaura-Selbina Ferry. Although they are still tough to reel in at times, I have discovered that tapping in quick bursts is the key to success. Moreover, I am still not completely comfortable with tapping because it is far more stressful than just holding a key down. Hopefully, I will get used to it with more practice.

Remember that Snippy tag post way back in February? Here, I was looking for a T Antlion to "Charm" while hunting more Iolites with Masani. A while later, Masani and I got separated, and she managed to spawn an Antlion that dropped her HP fast. I got to her in the nick of time, but my first few "Charm" attempts failed miserably. This is when I noticed a nearby rock and decided to run around it to stall for time.

It worked. There is actually a point where if you are on the opposite side of your foe, you can tap left and right to confuse your enemy on how to approach you. I decided to use "Familiar" after my successful "Charm" attempt and proceeded to hunt some Corses until another BST showed up. As you can probably guess, I was not too happy with competition after just acquiring my new Antlion pet.

Have you spotted the Norg patrolman (above) before? By panning your camera up upon entering, the faint image of a nameless NPC can be spotted pacing back and forth. He does not seem to have any purpose, but it is the little things in FFXI that can make a zone truly authentic.

Regarding this picture, I learned that one can drag the pets from the lower levels of King Ranperre's Tomb all the way up to the surface! Here, I have lured a Cutlass Scorpion out of its den to terrorize Spook and other low-level monsters.

Finally, I managed to position a Gazer to tank the Stegotaur above backwards. In this position, the Stegotaur's "Mortal Ray" ability cannot land on my Gazer because its eyes are facing away from those of its foe. I cannot seem to duplicate this trick often, so I think it has to do something with the rock they are standing near.
