NMs Galore!

Hey everybody, sorry to anyone who visited in the past couple of weeks; my exams kept me busy and unable to blog much. Expect a full return just as soon as I discover a new BST application to blog about (although the list is shrinking fast). In the meanwhile, I managed to conquer some new NMs, so drum roll please!

First off, Ariane asked for help with her Sirocco Kukri, so a group of us decided to camp her NM after the last maintenance period.  After losing the initial claim to another group that beat us to the punch, we lost the claim yet again to a female NIN/DNC who started to solo Kreutzet. She got the NM to around half HP, but in the end, she too was defeated. At this point, I decided to spam my "Charm" macro, claiming Kreutzet, and we were rewarded with...

...along with a happy Ariane (you so owe me, baby). I guess I should not take too much pride in claiming things that other people died for, but I am glad we got Ariane a knife in the end. Since my other party members wanted their Joyeuses after Kreutzet, we decided to travel to the Sea Serpent's Grotto to assemble in a small, cramped room.

However, that does not mean I did not wander off to hunt stray NMs running up and about on "Widescan." As a BST, it is my duty to crush every NM that I cross paths with, whether it be through jug pets or an endless marathon of local pets. In particular, I have had an outstanding vendetta on the NM above after a certain PT decided to steal it from me when I attacked the NM's pet Wyvern. After trading some furious tells with the PT, their THF decided to tell me I could not possibly solo something she could not.

To that THF, whose name I have since forgotten, the picture above is testament to what a lvl 75 BST/NIN can do. With two Courier Carries, 19% gear Haste, 430 base Attack, and "Snarl," I managed to scythe through Zuug the Shoreleaper with ease. I only pray that SE does not start weakening the one job ability that I have been enjoying recently; I would be really sad if they did.

But my "Snarl" applications do not end there. After noticing Novv the Whitehearted up and about on "Widescan," I decided to go for a rematch. After making a clean pull and placing enmity on my pet, I managed to defeat Novv without resummoning Snippy, and this time around, Novv decided to drop Masani her Minstrel's Coat!

I also found this NM in the same area as Novv the Whitehearted, and he is relatively similar in difficulty. It is a real shame that SE removed the Siren's Hair drop from this NM, I could have used some more pocket change. As you can tell, my drop rates without Ariane's TH3 is rather abysmal -- perhaps I should keep her on a short leash for such occasions.

And last but not least, our party decided to tackle Charybdis, the great Joyeuse NM. Initially, Charybdis attacked as fast as someone using "Hundred Fists," but things changed once Masani put "Carnage Elegy" on the NM. For this fight, Ariane tanked the NM on her THF (using evasion gear) while Snippy and I pummeled it from behind. When I managed to steal enmity, I would either "Snarl" and let Snippy suffer Charybdis' wrath or let Ariane steal enmity back via "Accomplice." In the end, our team farmed a total of four blue swords, so congratulations to Ariane, Demonjr, Kearick, and Masani on their new toys. Now if only I could get a Bloodbead Ring...
