A Small Break

After some grueling calculus and chemistry study sessions, I decided to log onto FFXI and noticed someone from my new SMN LS asking for help with the lvl 55 Limit Break quest. I decided to help the fellow out, and we marched out to Xarcabard together with my faithful companions.

For our first NM, we decided to tackle the Boreal Hound, and the fight was a joke thanks to the recent changes. I was averaging 250 damage per hit, 370 damage criticals, and 2k "Rampages" on the Hound for some reason. The other two NMs took less damage compared to the Hound, but they were still far stronger than the average TW monster. After dispatching all three NMs, I decided to try my hand at Campaign again.

This here is the rare and elusive Belfry, a Campaign structure that can appear randomly during battles, and basically, it can spawn up to five Quadav in short intervals. After charming a local Slug pet, I attempted to destroy the Belfry above solo, bringing it down to about 50% before the Quadav overwhelmed me. In the end, I was forced to flee because the summons proved much stronger than I had anticipated.

On the tangent of miscellaneous activities, I also decided to take another trip to Sacrarium for exp scrolls but was halted when I bumped into the Stegotaur above. Since I never say no to a possible Fomor codex drop, I decided to "Charm" a nearby EM Gazer and used "Sic" at maximum range, watching my pet open fire with "Freeze" for over 700 damage (~25% of the Stegotaur's HP) in just one spell. Unfortunately, the Gazer followed up with a DoT spell immediately after, and I did not receive a Fomor Codex either.

Although I should be focusing more on my finals at this time, I still wish I could be on FFXI more and feel driven to earn my Stage 3 Axe and complete my crafting goals. It is almost like there is a voice calling out to me...

You just could not wait until after exam week, right? Sigh. Anyhow, I believe I will be making another round of visits to other BST bloggers in May, so if you happen to be interested, leave a comment below.
