How to Duo Escort: Tavnazia

This guide is probably my most original idea to date, so given the lack of interest in CoP quests by the FFXI community, please entitle me some credit if you plan to copy it elsewhere.

Requirements:

• access to Lufaise Meadows
• no other escort quests active
• a friend(s) to help kite or kill mobs as you escort
• a level 45+ BST with 2hr ready to go

Optional (but recommended):

• food (offensive)
• Pet Food Zeta biscuits
• potions
• an excellent CHR set
• /NIN subjob

The Guide

You start this quest by talking to Travonce at F-9 inside the Tavnazian Safehold. The goal is to successfully escort him to the lake at I-8 while killing all NMs he fishes up. The quest has a very short availability period (13:00-15:00 game time) and can only be attempted once per game day by taking the southeastern exit from the Tavnazian Safehold. You have 30 minutes to complete the quest, and you will be capped at level 45.

1) Your partner will head to G-6 in the Lufaise Meadows and drag a Leshachikha (Sapling) over to E-10 at around 10:00-11:00 game time.

2) You will exit the Safehold at 13:00 and receive a cutscene upon zoning into the Meadows. You are not under the lvl cap yet, so do NOT charm the Sapling.

3) This is the hard part. You must talk to Travonce to send him off on his Fishing expedition. Please note that once you start, Travonce will not stop until he dies or reaches a Fishing site. Your partner will zone at this point, and you will have to charm the Sapling before Travonce reaches the first NM on the bridge.

4) You will require luck to "Charm" the Sapling. When your partner zones to drop off the Sapling, "Charm" it immediately, and use "Familiar" to keep it under control. You will have 30 minutes of pet-control time, so run for the bridge to catch up with Travonce and the first NM.

5) Your partner should run ahead and start clearing monsters ahead of Travonce. Monsters in Travonce's path (shown on this map) should be dispatched or escorted out of his way. Travonce will not stop if he is attacked and can agro/link/fish up multiple enemies.

6) You will encounter NMs at the follow locations:
G-9 (bridge) - Flytrap NM
H-10 (sea) - Sea Monk and Pugil NMs
I-8 (lake) - Leech, Crab, and Doomed NMs

For the first two parts of the map above, let your pet supertank the NMs that spawn. Do not worry if you see two or three NMs, your pet can handle them all with a little help from "Reward."

For the third part, your friend will kill/agro any Acrophies at the lake so they will not link with the Leech NM. If multiple enemies spawn, focus on attacking the Leech or Doomed NM first because the Crab NMs have higher def.

7) Once you are done killing all the NMs, talk to Travonce for a completion certificate and return to him inside the Safehold for your reward. Good luck!

b) Linking is the process of having an additional monster(s) join in the fray alongside the one(s) you are attacking.
